The most important lesson I have learned in my life is to ask for help.
Yes it feels great to accomplish things all by yourself and there is nothing wrong with being independent. Today asking for help is seen as a sign of weakness, but in reality it is the strongest and most basic thing that you can do. Think back to when you were a child, when you never hesitated to ask for help. We never think twice when a child asks for help. How else would children learn? This even transcends into our education. Again we do this to learn. So why do we start asking for help once we get older? Because there is that stigma of weakness associated with asking for help.
There have been many times in my life where I have tried to do things on my own, and many times I have failed on my own. After failing I would end up asking for
help and then things would get exponentially easier. There is nothing wrong with seeking out help from those who have experience or the proper knowledge. Think of it as having the proper tools in your tool box. It’s much easier to build or fix things with the proper tools.
There it is, ask for help. That is the most important lesson I have learned in my life and one I use all the time.
